First Press Trip

In 1995, Turkish Friends organized a major publicity campaign in order to bring Catalhoyuk to the attention of public media. This campaign possibly constituted the seeds of the media interest in Catalhoyuk, which has been growing ever since.

The campaign took place in two stages.

During the first stage, 4 articles in the press and an interview with Prof Ian Hodder on Turkish TV Channel TRT 2 were promoted through the personal connections of Turkish Friends.

During the second stage, the Turkish Friends organized a press trip to Catalhoyuk. Following this trip, which was attended by thirty-seven distinguished media members, forty-three articles on Catalhoyuk appeared in the press and two programs on Catalhoyuk were presented on two separate channels ( TRT1 and CINE5 ). According to a study by MPR Public Relations Company, thirty five million readers and viewers were reached through this campaign. The commercial value of such a publicity campaign was estimated as $ 400,000 .
